The dream for this building was birthed many years ago, with the church having rented in various locations both north and south of Perth. A new centre would bring together multiple congregations of different languages and generations in preparation for the church’s future expansion.

During a leaders’ retreat in Mandurah, fervent prayers led to a new direction for the church, a new name of “Kingdom Light” and a reawakening of the vision to commence the building project. As such, a Building Committee was formed and commenced their search. The Committee discovered the block on Tamara Drive and miraculously acquired it through a deposit of one dollar. United in their efforts to raise funds for the building, the congregation fully paid off the $2.5 million land cost through their own contributions and the sale of homemade food, baked goods and homewares. This was also made possible through the wisdom and foresight of the church’s past and present leaders, who believed in saving towards the church’s future.

Like Nehemiah, there were challenges along the way, but God’s provision and presence was witnessed throughout this journey of faith. The subsequent building process itself is a testimony of God’s faithfulness - the church experienced unsurpassed favour with builders and bankers alike. So much so that the building was completed ahead of schedule and below budget. Even as church members prayed and symbolically set aside a portion of their finances in “brick boxes” for the project, God prepared His church to enter a new season coinciding with the building’s final completion in July 2018.

It is hoped that this new home will not only be a place to encounter God, but to equip the saints for missions and raise up the next generation of Christians to win Perth for Jesus.
